Carolyne Ekyarisiima, founder of Apps and Girls in Dar es Salaam, Tanzaina, shares her advice to social entrepreneurs: follow your passion, and use the resources you already have!

Hi, my name is Carolyne Ekyarisiima! I am from Tanzania, Dar es Salaam. I am the founder of Apps and Girls.

Apps and Girls is a social enterprise that teaches young girls how to code and to become tech entrepreneurs solving community challenges.

My advice to fellow women who would love to have a social enterprise is to follow their passion and also to use the resources they already have.

I started Apps and Girls in my living room with borrowed laptops and working with only 20 girls. But right now we have worked with 1,045 young girls, and we have 40 girls in our incubator, and we have 20 coding clubs.

So all you have to do is go for it. Follow your passion and go for it. Us girls, we are the future of our countries, of our continent – and of the world!
